New Video! Mini QEG Update April 2016. The Latest From our Manufacturing Partners in China.

Here is our latest from the QEG Academy, we are thrilled to bring you this update for the mini QEG TeslaGen v1 open source project. In this video we share our latest pictures of mini QEG development fresh of the stamping press from our manufacturing partners in China!

First we discuss what it takes in order to make the tooling necessary to stamp out mini QEG parts. The creation of the tooling cost between$ 7,000-$20,000. The great news is, we’ve gone ahead and funded this through our TeslaGen project and now the tooling is ready to stamp out mini QEG parts at an affordable rate for the rest of the excited DIY engineers. (we estimate that the total cost for building a mini QEG will be between $1,500-$1,800)

The mini QEG parts we show here were inspired by the ideas discussed by many engineers on the be-do.com  forum. Now these parts have been created in a factory in China. They are no longer thoughts and theories or fancy 3D graphics. The TeslaGen Mini QEG has been  manifested into our physical reality and we are ready to start testing!

Included in the update:

The 3d printed resin plastic high voltage bobbins that are wrapped around the stator, which is constructed into 4 separate pieces

We chose to make clear polycarbonate end plates so we can look inside and see what’s going on.

The unique design of the stator needs a unique way to hold it all together and this is made possible by these end pieces:

The support rods that will go through the stator.

In addition to experimenting with the mini QEG,  we have designed what is called a universal transformer core. This will allow you to take advantage of certain winding configurations to experiment with lens less transformers. (Tivon says this will have lots of DIY enthusiasts drooling at the possibilities)
